What to Expect (Before You Sign Up)
Registering for KaraOakland is the first step on a wild and silly journey. If you get rostered your captain will contact by you and connect you with the rest of the team. Together you'll determine the song selections. As a rostered member of the team you're expected to contribute to song selection, costumes, props, creative concepts, and of course, performing. This process often involves spreadsheets. Some teams set aside time to practice their numbers, others are more laid back.
You are expected to make the majority of the league nights, even if you aren't performing. If you can't make it please communicate that early to your captain.
If you miss a lot of nights without explanation your team captain can drop you.

Participation Agreement
By registering for the KaraOakland league, you understand and agree to:
  • Show up for your team as much as possible, with no more than four unexcused absences a season.
    1. More than four unexcused absences will bar you from participating in the finals, and if your team wins, they aren't obligated to share the prize money with you.
  • No cheating. If cheating, shady sh**, or unsportsmanlike shenanigans occur, your team will be forced to wear giant silly hats during the next competition or be barred from competing if the crime was egregious enough in the eyes of the league. Review the rules here.
  • Don't sing if you're sick. Being sick is an excused absence. We don't want the whole league getting sick, so stay home.
